About CobotFloor
Honest, numbers-first guidance for small and mid-size manufacturers deciding whether — and how — to deploy robots.
Who this site is for
CobotFloor is written for owners and operations managers of job shops and SME factories (roughly 10–500 employees), manufacturing engineers scoping automation projects, and maintenance leads who will own and operate the robot after it installs.
If you have a CNC machine that sits idle while an operator loads parts, a palletizing line where you lose employees to repetitive strain, or a welding shop struggling to hire, this site is for you.
What we cover
Seven topic areas covering the full decision cycle for factory automation:
- Collaborative robots (cobots) — payload, reach, brands, pricing, cobot vs industrial robot
- Industrial robot arms — articulated, SCARA, delta, Cartesian; used robots
- End-of-arm tooling — grippers, vacuum systems, tool changers
- Machine tending — CNC cells, cycle-time math, lights-out machining
- Welding and palletizing — cobot welding, palletizer comparisons, case packing
- AMRs and AGVs — autonomous mobile robots, fleet sizing, mobile manipulators
- Integration and ROI — cost models, risk assessment, programming, integrator selection
Topics outside this scope — PLC programming, sensors, VFDs, CNC machine selection, compressors, MES/ERP software — are handled by sister sites and linked to where relevant.
Why vendor-neutral matters
Most content ranking for cobot and robot queries is written by manufacturers or integrators who earn revenue from selling specific equipment. That creates a bias toward recommending what they sell, omitting limitations, and understating total installed cost.
CobotFloor earns no commission from robot sales. When we compare brands, we use published datasheets, list pricing where available, and state the basis for every claim. When a cobot is the wrong choice, we say so.
How content is researched
Each article is written from a combination of:
- Manufacturer datasheets and technical specifications
- Published pricing (where available) dated to month and year
- Relevant ISO and ANSI standards (ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, ISO 13855)
- Practitioner discussions on Practical Machinist, Reddit r/PLC, r/robotics and r/manufacturing
- Trade press from FMA, AWS Welding Journal, The Robot Report, and Automation World
A fact-check table is completed for every article before publication. Any claim that cannot be verified against a named source is removed. Prices and model lineups are dated and reviewed quarterly.
Authorship
Articles are published under the CobotFloor Editorial Team byline. We do not create fictional author personas or credentials. See our editorial policy for sourcing, fact-checking, update schedule and the use of AI-assisted research and writing.
